Tues, 8/14-
Today at the canal park trail I did 5x1000 with a 3:00 stationary rest after each. (I went to Hillsborough HS track, but it was overrun with preseason athletics activities.)
At canal, I marked the distance was from the parking lot gate until 50 meters beyond the footbridge (that goes to Colonial Park) as my stretch of 1K. I warmed up on the other side of the trail.
My goal was 17:30 5K in mind. It was tough, though, as this mean 3:30 per repeat. My runs were a heap slower, but that's okay: 3:41, 3:37, 3:37, 3:36, 3:33.
3:41-about 18:25 pace
3:37-about 18:05 pace
3:37-about 18:05 pace
3:36-about 18:00 pace
3:33-about 17:45 pace
I should have entered the workout with 18:00 pace in mind. 17:30 was perhaps too lofty this early in my training.
